Aretha: Queen of Soul - A Performance by Teens
Join us in making a difference for Black & Latino youth during quarantine this summer by helping raise funds for Jazz is a Rainbow, a program of Stages of Freedom, now in its 17th year (https://www.stagesoffreedom.org/jiar). This 2-week summer intensive with professional musicians, teaches singing techniques, vocal stylings, the history of jazz, and performance skills to Black and Latino youth. This August, they will rehease virtually through Zoom and perform livestream "Aretha: The Queen of Soul", a powerful tribute to America's iconic R&B singer and her influence on Black self-determination and pride.

Your donation assures that youth can participate at no cost and covers the expense of creating a special film of their performance for livestream. Donors will be sent an invitation to the livestream concert on YouTube and Facebook, be listed in our livestream credits and be posted on our website.

We are working every day during this pandemic to help Black and Brown families cope with COVID-19 and remain hopeful and resilient through our innovative website "Connected" https://www.stagesoffreedom.org/
Our Mission: 1) To educate and empower inner-city youth by providing cultural opportunities and access to museums and live performances. 2) To build community by creating and providing programming about Black Rhode Island life and culture to a wide audience. 3) To give youth of color access to swimming programs to address a serious health disparity and save them from drowning.
