In April 2026 I’m running the Paris Marathon, in memory of my grandma who died in December 2025. She was an energetic, fun and gorgeous grandma and we loved her very much.

Battling with cancer, St Wilfred’s Hospice supported both her and us as a family through her final days with love, kindness and support.

It has seen a whole variety of film and stage characters! Im now looking to get a short back & sides like in 2nd foto (a wartime movie!) It must be 20yrs! We’re hosting a special day event at the Royal British Legion, to raise vital funds for St Wilfrid’s Hospice, a charity that provides exceptional care and support to those who need it most.

This event is all about bringing the community together for a great cause with a darts tournament to round off the day in style!

In August last year, my family faced one of its biggest challenges, as we lost one of the funniest, happiest and selfless people we know to cancer, my grandad Tony.

While each day we still miss the laughter and jokes, we reflect on an incredible experience we all had at St Wilfrids Hospice, who cared for him in his final days. The care truly was outstanding and we were taken aback massively by the hard work and relationship building of all the staff that we experienced while we were there

While we cannot thank them enough in making our experience as comfortable as possible during such a difficult time, we knew we would look to raise awareness.

In honour of my grandads love for his family and his two westie dogs, Harry and Louie. I will be walking approximately 33 miles between his two favourite dog walking spots from Hampden Park to Worthing Travelodge on Saturday April 5th 2025. If anyone wishes to join part of this walk, you are more than welcome.

We would be deeply touched, by anyone willing to help donate to this fantastic charity. All funds raised will go directly to St Wilfrids Hospice.

Who this will help

The staff at St Wilfrid’s Hospice were amazing ! Showing true compassion to my sister Tracey and all her family, including her husband Steve and her 16 year old daughter Lesley, we will all be forever grateful. As a family we would like to raise funds for the hospice to enable them to continue providing the high levels of care we all saw during her 11 final days.

Why I'm fundraising

St Wilfreds hospice rely on charitable funds and provide the most outstanding service to patients in their last days of life. I have witnessed over the last 11 days the high levels of care and compassion the staff showed to my sister Tracey, who sadly lost her battle with cancer yesterday at the age of 55.

The hospice runs a 365 day service and it is pivotal we support this charity to enable them to continue providing the high levels of care to others.

As a family we decided to set up this go fund me page, to show our support , gratitude and to say thank you for the outstanding care everyone showed , and we would all like to say a sincere thank you to anyone that donates to our page.

The impact of your support

My sister would be so proud !

We had many laughs , while she was in the hospice, and one of the staff members referred to it as the party room and wished to be part of it , which was lovely ! My husband dressed up every day in different outfits , whether it be Santa or Spider man , anything to make her smile , which it did ! The staff did not mind what ever we did , so long as my sister was happy and comfortable , it also made Tracey happy to see the staff joining in our fun.

As you know one of our much loved teachers, Nicola Wickenden, passed away from cancer late last year. This has left a huge hole in all of our hearts and here at West Hill. One of Nicola's unfulfilled dreams was to climb Mount Snowdon. In her honour, on the 8th June 2024, 12 members of staff at West Hill are going to climb the Llanberis Path in Snowdon. The money raised will be going to St Wilfrid's Hospice (Eastbourne) who cared for Nicola in her last days before she passed. She was very thankful for all they did for her and her wish was for others to continue supporting this amazing cause. We know that Nicola impacted many of your children's lives so positively for many years, as much as she did ours, and we would be immensely grateful for any donations that you could give.
