Diamonds & Stained Glass: The Window Project
Dear St. Luke's Family and Friends,
Did you know St. Luke's Church has been a worship center in our Germantown community for 211 years? It has, and its campus is a centerpiece of beautiful grounds and four handsome buildings sitting on 'The Avenue.' They include St. Barnabas Parish Hall, rebuilt after a fire in 1910, and the place for celebrations, gatherings and nurturing our church family and the community! The building has two beautiful and irreplaceable windows: The 'Suffer The Little Children' stained-glass window in the auditorium (see our cover photo) and the original Diamond-Leaded Glass Window (shown below) on the grand staircase leading to the auditorium. Both need extensive repair and restoration before winter weather sets in, costing approximately $50,000, or we could lose them!
The Good News: We will get a gift to the parish of up to $25,000 to help with the cost IF you, our parish family and friends help us raise the same amount. Restoration work has already started on the diamond-leaded window (it was ready to fall from its frame!). The pictures below show how much work is needed to restore it to its original condition. Repair work to the stained glass window is next.
The Challenge: Please help in this Season of Thanksgiving! Add to the generosity of this matching gift with your donation. It will ensure the architectural beauty and integrity of these unique elements of St. Barnabas Parish Hall. Make a difference today by donating $5, $50, $500 or any amount to St Luke's Church. THANK YOU!
