2020 SJCS Spirit Week: St. Anthony's School
Greetings All!
Happy New Year! We are excited to announce that this year’s SJCS Student Council Spirit Week will be January 26th – February 1st. This year, our Spirit Week Beneficiary is St. Anthony of Padua Catholic School.
For more than 60 years, St. Anthony of Padua Catholic School in Greenville, SC, has prepared students K3-6 grade for leadership and service in a changing world. Distinctly Franciscan, proudly diverse, and centered in Jesus Christ, St. Anthony of Padua Catholic School has a 100% graduation rate, up from the 70% graduation rate, in the African American Community. All St. Anthony’s students meet or exceed standardized testing scores in 5 out of 6 classes. Additionally, St. Anthony’s nurtures academic excellence, supports artistic development, communication, collaboration, and critical thinking. They complement the academic curriculum with a variety of after school activities, where students also learn to care for and respect themselves, others, and all of God’s creation.
So you may ask, why does a school this great need our help?
Every family whose child/children attends St. Anthony’s pays some portion of tuition for their child/children to attend, however, every student is on some type of financial assistance. Because of this, there is a great need to help support the already guaranteed financial assistance promised to current families already in the school, technology for learning, special program/field trip assistance, and uniform purchase assistance.
In addition to this, it was recently released that Fr. Patrick Tuttle will be leaving St. Anthony's by this summer. The positive impact he has made cannot be overstated. He has loved and served St. Anthony of Padua Catholic School and Parish, St. Joseph's Catholic School, and all of the Greenville community so deeply. His presence will be greatly missed and absence widely felt. Fr. Pat is someone (speaking from personal experience) that makes everyone feel as if they can face whatever tomorrow brings. His Christ-like joy truly lights up any room he walks into.
We would like to ask you today, to consider donating to our 2020 Spirit Week efforts not only to support the incredible mission of St. Anthony’s Catholic School, but also as a tribute to the great love and selfless work Fr. Pat has done for over the past 15 years here in Greenville. Our goal for Spirit Week is to raise $50,000 to help support the incredible mission of St. Anthony’s, and we know this is possible with your help.
