Sri Lanka Medical Crisis Help
The dire economic situation in Sri Lanka has created a medical crisis for essential medicine and medical supplies. The hospitals have run out of basic medicines and have reached out for assistance. Sri Lanka needs your help during these desperate times more than ever.
Our Mission: Sri Lanka Association of Oregon (SLAO) as a 501c 3 Organization has partnered with 2 large US Based Not for Profit Organizations who specialize in obtaining medicine and medical supplies from pharmaceutical companies like Pfizer, Abbot, Gilead etc. which are considered donated medicine.
SLAO as the project's primary sponsor is exclusively responsible for shipment of these goods via ocean freight, or Air Freight from USA to Sri Lanka and distribution to the various hospitals in Sri Lanka. We have also partnered with the Ministry of Health in Sri Lanka, who will ultimately be responsible for clearing the goods from the port/airport and final distribution to the Hospitals.
Fundraising and Cost: The initial Organization we have partnered with has graciously offered to provide the medicine and medical supplies free of charge with SLAO responsible for the total freight cost. 3 Pallets of sizes 48x40x62 (260 Kg), 48x40x58 (230 Kg), 48x40x42 (210 Kg) have been shipped via air freight (June 10th 2022) and arrive in Sri Lanka on (June 19th 2022). The total value of the shipment came out to $625,000.
Our plan is to continue shipments including sending a 20 foot ocean container because much more medicines are needed. However, we need your help with the freight cost due to the overwhelming rise in fuel global cost and the total distance from US to Sri Lanka.

Our Promise: SLAO has an obligation with the signed contract to ensure the goods are appropriately delivered to the Hospitals. We will track the inventory that has been shipped and update everyone regarding the status of the goods from shipment to final distribution. The US donor Organization is expecting through their generosity that we will publish photos and impact stories of how this medicine has helped the people of Sri Lanka.
We appreciate your generosity during this time of need for our motherland and are hopeful this project will provide essential medicines and medical supplies to the people of Sri Lanka.
