To celebrate my 65th birthday I am going to row 65,000 meters (40 miles) on an indoor rower at The Power Station Gym in Hood river beginning at 9am September 3, 2022. The distance should take me between 6-8 hours. I am doing this to honor Superhero Ezra Blue by asking my friends to donate to support his family. On April 2, 2021, Ezra Blue at age 4 was officially diagnosed with medulloblastoma, a type of cancerous pediatric brain tumor. Ezra completed chemotherapy in December 2021 and the MRI showed “nothing of concern” to the oncologist. In January 2022, Ezra’s post-radiation MRI showed that the cancer was back and did not respond to the radiation as his family had hoped. They were told there is no cure. The cancer is “sprinkled” over the top layer of his brain, on his spinal cord, and in his cerebral spinal fluid. Doctors said without treatment, Ezra would have only months to live.

As of August 2022, Ezra is eligible to participate in an immunotherapy clinical trial in Seattle. He will need a surgery to revise or replace the shunt in his head so the medicine can be delivered directly to the brain. Ezra has been receiving chemotherapy to stabilize the tumor long enough for him to participate in the clinical trial in Seattle.

His mother Hannah, and his grandmother Deevona are his caregivers and 100% of the money we raise will be delivered directly to the family via the Sportsgrants Foundation, a registered 501C3 I founded in 2008.
