A New Website for Sports Plus
SPORTS PLUS, founded in 2005 by Tom and Natalie Liniak, parents of two children, one of whom is on the autism spectrum, is a Montgomery County, Maryland based 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that provides innovative co-ed sports, swim, camp and social programs to children and young adults, ages 5 to 21, with mild to moderate autistic spectrum disorders, ADD/ADHD and other developmental disabilities. By offering uniquely structured recreation and social opportunities that focus on the ability of the children combined with providing challenging opportunities, SPORTS PLUS is able to fill a void for participants and their families who were previously unable to meaningfully participate and enjoy sports and social activities. This program is very popular and attracts participants from all over the Maryland, the District of Columbia and Virginia. Sports Plus offers summer camp programs, swimming, track and field, indoor gym, teen socials, yoga and more!
I have been a coach for this amazing organization since 2010. I can attest to the achievements and success of these programs and the extraordinary growth I have seen in participants over the last 7 years. I have watched children with sensitivity to loud noises and awkward social interactions, blossom into happy children who seek out their teammates for more play. I have seen children who enter the pool afraid and unable to understand swim instructions, now safely be in and around bodies of water. I have seen others, who have gained swim skills, and are now participating on their school's or summer swim teams!
Yet with all the success, referrals from specialists and even small local grants, SPORTS PLUS is still a struggling small nonprofit organization with an outdated website, and still using hand-submitted paper registration forms. All funds currently raised go directly to programming and supplies because it is truly important to use to keep the program fees low for families that already have numerous other financial stress from raising and caring for their special needs children.
With Go Fund Me, I have an opportunity to help Sports Plus and help raise funds for a much needed new website. I would like to raise $3,500.00 by the end of December 2018to upgrade the website to a more professional, informative, and attractive site that really expresses the success of the program and also attracts potential sponsors, donors, and grant organizations. Their website needs to be their business card. Through your support we hope to re-design www.playsportsplus.org . The following are our goals for the website:
- Hire a web designer for content and layout
- Mobile friendly platform
- Offer downloadable registration forms and waivers
- Provide online registration for program participants
- Enable credit card payment processing for program fees
- Newsfeed from Twitter and Facebook updates on class scheduling
- Have a contact / questions submission form
