Golf Your Age for children with terminal illnesses
My name is Christopher Wirkkala. I am the executive director of the SphereUs Foundation. The SphereUs Foundation is a 501c3 charitable organization (tax id # 27-1155929).
We focus our support on two primary needs groups. The first is impoverished students. We provide tutoring and counseling services to improve student success outcomes. The second is disabled children fighting terminal illnesses. This GoFundMe request is dedicated to the second group.
These funds will be used to develop and launch our GolfYourAge campaign and its supplemental mobile application. GolfYourAge is an annual challenge. What began as 54@54, a challenge for a 54-year-old to play 3 rounds of golf (54 holes) in one day is now open to anyone 18 years or older. And the challenge is similar. Each year, attempt to golf at least as many holes as you are years old and do it within 3 days (72 consecutive hours).
Monies raised by GolfYourAge players are distributed locally in the form of prepaid home services to improve the environments of the ailing children. Services include landscaping, gardening, maintenance, and cleaning.
The benefits of Golf Your Age are many: creating pleasant and peaceful environments for children with illnesses, helping your local economy, getting some exercise, interacting with others who care about your community, and adding encouragement and positivity to the world at large.
We will use half of the proceeds from this GoFundMe project for GolfYourAge technology development and outreach and the other half for targeted assistance to the children and their communities. Donate what you can. Any amount helps. GolfYourAge in support of those who may never get the chance to golf theirs.
