Running NYC Half Marathon for SPUR 501(c)(3)
I am running the NYC Half Marathon and raising funds to support Special People United to Ride (SPUR).

SPUR is a 501(c)(3) charity organization that was founded in 1981. They have a great team of coaches and volunteers who provide Hippotherapy which is physical therapy using horses. The Hippotherapy is provided to folks with Special Needs.

It is more than physical therapy, the riders get a sense of pride and accomplishment that carries over into all aspects of their lives. My son Conor has ridden at SPUR for over 10 years and loves it. The Fundraising goes to support scholarships for riders and families. 35% of the riders receive some form of scholarship support.

About Special People United to Ride Inc

Working in conjunction with the Monmouth County Park System, Special People United to Ride (SPUR) is a non-profit organization providing individuals with disabilities the opportunity to achieve personal goals through therapeutic horseback riding. It is the mission of the Board of Directors of SPUR to raise funds for the assistance of individuals with disabilities through need-based scholarships for SPUR therapeutic horsemanship programs. In addition, the Board of Directors will provide material assistance to the Monmouth County Park System for the implementation of its therapeutic horsemanship programs when deemed necessary by the SPUR Board of Directors.
