Together with S.O.S. Colombia: A New Chance for Cristóbal
Today, S.O.S. Colombia invites you to be part of a very special mission. Our goal is to help Cristóbal Erasmo Ramírez Trejo, a 54-year-old man living in Colonia El Palmar, El Salvador.
In 1996, Cristóbal suffered a tragic accident while working. His job was to climb tall palm trees to cut coconuts. After one of these climbs, he fell and severely injured his spine. He was hospitalized and underwent surgery in 1997, where doctors told him the procedure would be a complete success. Unfortunately, due to a medical error, Cristóbal was left paraplegic for life.
For the past 27 years, Cristóbal has faced this reality with extraordinary courage. Despite being confined to a wheelchair, he has never given up. With determination, he runs a small home workshop to earn a little income and support himself. He lives with his life partner, who sadly also cannot work after suffering a stroke. Together, they face daily challenges with resilience and dignity.
Now, we want to improve his quality of life by providing him with an all-terrain wheelchair, specially adapted to the rugged area where he lives. This chair will give him greater independence, safety, and dignity.

Hoy, S.O.S. Colombia te invita a ser parte de una misión muy especial. Nuestro objetivo es ayudar a Cristóbal Erasmo Ramírez Trejo, un hombre de 54 años que vive en Colonia El Palmar, El Salvador.
En 1996, Cristóbal sufrió un trágico accidente mientras trabajaba. Su labor era subirse a las palmeras para cortar cocos. En una de esas ocasiones cayó y se lesionó gravemente la columna. Fue internado y operado en 1997, donde los médicos le aseguraron que la cirugía sería un éxito. Sin embargo, por un error médico, Cristóbal quedó parapléjico de por vida, dependiendo de una silla de ruedas desde entonces.
Durante estos 27 años, Cristóbal ha enfrentado esta realidad con valentía. A pesar de su discapacidad, nunca se ha rendido. Con esfuerzo y determinación, trabaja por su cuenta en un pequeño taller para obtener algún ingreso y sostenerse. Vive con su compañera de vida, quien lamentablemente tampoco puede trabajar debido a que sufrió un derrame cerebral. Juntos enfrentan día a día grandes dificultades con fortaleza y dignidad.
Ahora queremos mejorar su calidad de vida entregándole una silla de ruedas todo terreno, especialmente adaptada a la zona difícil donde vive. Esta silla le dará mayor independencia, seguridad y dignidad.
