2019 Arizona Science Olympiad Champions Raising Funds to Compete at Nationals
Winning State Championships at the Arizona Science Olympiad (Division B, grades 6-9) is a tradition at Paragon Science Academy, dating back to 2013. Our success story this year began on August 27, 2018, with the first club meeting. Students who signed up for this club were well aware of the fact that this was a huge commitment; the task would not be easy. They knew they would have to prepare for 23 different events: Anatomy Battery Buggy, Boomilever, Circuit Lab, Crime Busters, Density Lab, Disease Detectives, Dynamic Planet, Elastic Launched Gliders, Experimental Design, Fast Facts, Fossils, Game On, Heredity, Herpetology, Meteorology, Mystery Architecture, Potions and Poisons, Road Scholar, Roller Coaster, Science Word, Solar System, Thermodynamics, Water Quality, Write it Do it; yet they all committed to the challenge!
After competing against other Arizona schools in three invitational / practice competitions, Paragon Panthers claimed their first trophy, a 1st place, on Saturday, February 23rd, at the North Central Regional Competition. Yet the Panthers knew that the only way to go to Nationals was by winning the State Championship! The state competition was held at Arizona State University on Saturday, April 6th. The Panthers competed against 32 other teams and the competition was intense but the team emerged, once again, as State Champions! This is the 6th time in seven years that Paragon Science Academy has been State Champions.
The team will now represent Arizona at the National Science Olympiad, which will be held in Ithaca, New York, on May 31st, 2019, and now we face our biggest challenge – raising enough funds to get the team to Science Olympiad National Tournament!
We need your support to be able participate in the Science Olympiad National Tournament in Ithaca, New York. Every dollar counts! Thank you in advance for your support!
