Small businesses in Sonoma Valley looking for assistance during the pandemic are finding some relief through grants being offered by the Sonoma Valley Rotary Foundation.
The foundation is offering grants of $500 or more; businesses with 20 or fewer employees can apply. Businesses such as restaurants, hotels, auto repair shops, winery tasting rooms, barbers and hair salons and more - with valley locations from Kenwood to Schellville - are eligible.
“These are clearly extraordinary times for individuals and for businesses. Our goal is to help valley businesses get through the financial and operational challenges they face because of COVID-19,” said Dub Hay, Rotarian and development co-chair of Sonoma Valley Catalyst Fund, in a press release.
“The Catalyst Fund is a temporary effort of people in Sonoma who saw a need to raise and distribute money to do things like this—help the community in ways government agencies and philanthropic organizations just can’t.”
The Catalyst Fund contributed $50,000, and another $50,000 raised by Rotary Club of Sonoma Valley and Rotary Club of Sonoma Sunrise, combined for the total $100,000. That fund will be exhausted soon due to an overwhelming response so we're hoping to raise additional funds to meet this critical need. As of today, December 16, we have already committed over $60,000 of the $100K which has been granted to over 90 small businesses here in Sonoma Valley.
