Save The Children : 34 Ironmans in 34 Days
On October 19, my friend, Shangrila Rendon, will attempt to set the Guinness World Record of completing 34 Ironsmans in 34 days. That's 2.4 miles of swimming, 112 miles of biking, and 26.2 miles of running–every day for 34 days. Her motivation? Create awareness and raise funds for the abused children in the Philippines and orphans in Vietnam. Stay up to date with her project: www.shangrilarendon.com/beyondmyselfproject
Shangrila's story:
As a child, Shangrila was sexually abused. This continued for 14 years and caused her to not only lose trust in her loved ones but also lose all hope. She was diagnosed with extreme depression, PTSD, and struggled with an eating disorder for the next 10 years. To make matters worse, she was letting her life slip away and abusing alcohol in order to forget the past. For her, it was rock bottom.
At 24, she was sexually assaulted once more. Shangrila thought her life was over, feeling the same darkness creep in once more. But then, she discovered triathlons. Within a few years, Shangrila went from a non-runner, non-cyclist, and non-swimmer to an accomplished athlete. She even qualified for Kona, the world tournament for some of the fastest triathletes.
Through triathlons, Shangrila found peace. Now, she just needed purpose. She decided to create awareness and raise money to help vulnerable children like her. The donations would provide a support system for abused children and orphans and help transform their lives for the better.
All donations will go directly to SJVRC and help them support the abused children of the Philippines and Vietnam. They will support programs building schools, offering developmental programs, providing mental health support, covering medical needs, and distributing food.
Together, we can make a big difference in these children's lives. Please consider supporting our cause. If you're unable to donate, please help us raise awareness by sharing the fundraiser with your social network (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter), friends, coworkers, and family.
