Alex Divaris Memorial Scholars Award
Alex Divaris, a devoted husband, father, son, and friend, recently passed away after his fight against colon cancer. Please join us in celebrating his life and legacy by helping to establish a scholarship in his name.
Born in Cape Town, South Africa, Alex moved to Virginia Beach with his family at the age of three. He attended Norfolk Academy and graduated from the College of William and Mary (Class of 2001) where he was a member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity. After college, Alex returned to Virginia Beach where he lived with his loving wife, Emily, and two children, Gabriel and Hazel.
Alex was an Executive Vice President at Divaris Real Estate, where he worked for 18 years. He was a member of St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church and served on the parish council. Alex was a founder of the CBDX and a board member of the CBDA. He was also a founder of Generation MOCA and a MOCA trustee. In 2014, he was named “Top 40 Under 40” by Inside Business for his professional achievements and contributions to the Hampton Roads community.
Alex displayed unwavering courage and strength as he faced his diagnosis, becoming even more of an inspiration to his family and friends. Help us honor his life by supporting this effort.
Your tax-deductible donation will go to the Alex Divaris Scholars Award fund at the Sigma Chi Foundation, a § 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization whose express purpose is to provide scholarships to the undergraduate and graduate student members of the Sigma Chi Fraternity. The scholarship will annually award $1,000 to a qualified applicant from the Sigma Chi chapter at William & Mary.
