This May, 35 volunteer healthcare professionals will travel to Riobamba, Ecuador, to provide those in need with free cataract surgeries and medical (adult & pediatric) services.

Since 2012, Sights on Health's volunteer surgical team has performed more than 735 sight-restoring surgeries. This extraordinary mission also includes a volunteer medical team that examines adult and pediatric patients, diagnosing and treating a variety of illnesses. Since 2012, more than 15,000 people with limited access to basic healthcare have received cataract surgery and medical and eye care.

It is an indescribable experience to be a part of a mission where lives are changed as a result of having their vision restored & delivered medical treatment to those who do not have access to healthcare.

On Sunday, May 4th, Sights on Health assembled a team of 22 bikers to participate in the NYC 5 Boro Bike Tour. They will bike 40 miles throughout Manhattan, Bronx, Queens, Brooklyn, and Staten Island, all to raise funds to purchase supplies for Sights on Health’s May 2025 mission to Ecuador.

My name is Nicholas Chin and I am reaching out to you today with a sincere plea to help those struggling with vision impairment. Sight is one of our most precious senses, allowing us to connect with the world, our loved ones, and our dreams. Unfortunately, many people face the daily challenge of vision loss, which can drastically impact their quality of life. I realized how important eyesight is when I was helping my grandpa with his eyedrop medications after his cataract surgery. It was also at this time my vision was changing. Cataracts continues to be a cause of blindness worldwide and cases have increased from 12 million in 1990 to 20 million in 2010.

I'm volunteering with Sights On Health, a dedicated team of ophthalmologists and healthcare professionals who are committed to providing life-changing eye care. Sights on Health, is a non-profit group that provides quality, compassionate care for those who have geographical and/or social status that limits their access to medical care. My mission is to create a fundraiser to help raise money for the equipment ophthalmologists and healthcare professionals will use in surgery and assist them with supplies. Sights on Health has done medical missions to US Indian reservations in South Dakota and the Sacred Valley of Peru. Together as a team we aim to restore vision and give people the gift of sight, allowing them to lead fuller and happier lives. Any amount is greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Want to join us in making a difference? We are raising money to benefit Sights On Health, Inc. & any donation will help make an impact in purchasing cataract surgical and medical supplies for the upcoming mission to Ecuador on October 7-14, 2023. The surgical team will provide free sight-restoring cataract surgery to 75 patients & the medical team will travel to villages to provide care to children & adults.

Support one of our cyclists by pledging a dollar amount for each of the 40 miles they will cycle on May 7th, 2023 in the NYC 5 Boro Bike Tour. Last year our team of cyclists raised more than $37,000 to support our medical outreach.

THANK YOU to all of those who have donated thus far in support of raising funds to provide much needed medical supplies to the Ukrainian people… $27,925.00 has been raised in only one week! 

Sights on Health will donate these funds to Project HOPE to purchase & send Interagency Emergency Health Kits (IEHKs) to the Ukrainian people. These (IEHKs) are designed to meet the initial primary health care needs of displaced populations in areas with no access to medical facilities. Medicines and equipment include oral medicines, topical medicines, medical supplies, and medical devices. Each kit will support the emergency medical needs of approximately 10,000 people for three months. Each IEHK costs $8,000.

As of now Sights on Health is able to provide funding for (4) Interagency Emergency Health Kits which will provide medical support to 40,000 Ukrainians for 3 months.
