2019 Special Education Classroom Grants
Help Us Award Special Education Classroom Grants!
The Shoreline School District has approximately 1,500 students supported by 504 and IEP plans. Many more have special needs who are not yet identified as requiring accommodations.
The Shoreline Special Needs PTSA (SSNPTSA) provides resources, community, and advocacy for the families of our district's special needs students, as well as support for the teachers, paraprofessionals and other school staff who work hard to help our children learn and thrive in their school environments! One way the Shoreline Special Needs PTSA supports our district’s special education teachers and staff is by awarding classroom grants.
In prior years, grants have supported things like special education materials, books, adaptive equipment, inclusion and social supports, sensory equipment, and guest presenters on special education topics. All of the approved grants directly support or enhance the school experience for our district's special needs students.
In order to award the grants, we have to raise the funds!
Our fundraising goal for the 2019-20 grants program is $2,000. The campaign runs through October 31, 2019, after which district teachers and staff may apply for a grant. A committee will be formed to determine how awards will be given, with the board’s suggestion that awards be determined via lottery if the number of applications exceeds the funds available. Staff that are current members of the Special Needs PTSA will receive 2 entries into the lottery if one is needed.
