SOTH UMC - Mexico Mission 2019
The vision of Shepherd of the Hills United Methodist Church is to connect people with Jesus and to connect with one another in a worldwide community. Jesus taught us to love our neighbors -- without exception -- and at SOTH UMC we try to live into that promise.
Since 2011 we have worked on construction projects and provided ministries to local children in the Ensenada area in cooperation with with YUGO (Youth Unlimited Gospel Outreach). Each year we have completed our mission to construct THREE finished houses (in only three days!), while hundreds of local children also experience three days of Vacation Bible School, including a healthy meal.
Each 3 room, 320 sq ft house is completely finished, dry walled, trimmed and painted. Each house costs about $5,000.00 to build and we add little extra's like bedding and kitchen items to change the life of a family in need!
With your help we can change lives! As we get ready to head back to Ensenada in 2019, we invite you to you join our Mexico Mission team -- in person, by making a contribution or through your prayers. Here are some suggestions how you can help.
To cover the cost of the roof, the suggested donation is $500
For a window (4 per house) a suggested donation is $150
For a door (1 per house) a suggested donation is $100
For a bed, (depending upon size of family), $100 or bunk-beds $200
To donate paint, bedding, pots and pans or VBS supplies a suggested donation is $25 to $50
But please, any size donation is welcomed. If you leave your name and a comment, that blessing will be painted on the wall behind the drywall and will be a part of this home forever.
