She Ready Foundation x Oprah Winfrey Foundation
This summer the Oprah Winfrey Foundation is joining forces with me and the She Ready Foundation to raise awareness and money to help foster youth. For every dollar you give, Oprah will match up to $75,000 and I’m doing the same. Call it a 2 for 1. TravelPro's CEO, Blake Lipham, has put in an employee challenge match too! There's plenty of ways to get involved so join us.
With the funds, we will love up on foster children with our educational and emotional support programs including one-to-one, small group tutoring & case management for 25 high schoolers—five days a week. We have paid internships for 16 transitioning foster youth; life skills & professional development workshops; mental health counseling; and our newest program -- a Virtual Book Club and Reading Hour, where our She Ready Fellows will receive She Ready Love Libraries. Of course, our signature program of giving away luggage supported by partner TravelPro® will assure 1000+ children & youth get luggage so that they don’t feel like garbage. We’re on our way!
