New Van for Shack
Help the Shack Neighborhood House raise $50,000 for a new Summer Camp Field Trip van.
Recently the catalytic converter was stolen from The Shack’s van. This would be heartbreaking news at any time, but with summer camps just around the corner, we are asking for donations to buy a new van. Unfortunately, no van means no field trips for the kids.
Our county-wide “Festival of Fun” Summer program provides academic enrichment, field trips, organized arts & craft activities, recreation, and community service opportunities to children grades Pre-K through high school. Our summer camps usually go on field trips to exciting places like the WVU Core Arboretum, Kennywood, baseball games in Pittsburgh, Hovatter’s Zoo, and more – but without safe transportation, the kids can’t go to these exciting places.
We urgently need a new 10-person van to ensure the kids can go on field trips. The van is also used for other Shack programs like free hot meal deliveries and community outreach. The first $35,000 raised will go directly towards the purchase of the van. Additional funds will be allocated for vehicle maintenance and branding with the Shack logo.
The Shack Neighborhood House provides an inclusive, safe, and fun environment for learning and recreation. Programs strengthen families by nurturing children, youth, and community members of all ages in Monongalia County and the surrounding areas. The Shack Neighborhood House is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit. Donations are typically 100% tax-deductible in the United States.
