- Jill Jenkinson is fundraisingWomen and children’s health is not a guarantee! In rural Kenya, young mothers struggle with a lack of resources, including baby diapers and little to no availability of basic women’s hygiene products for menstrual health.
In honor of World Health Day, your donation can greatly impact the lives of the first group of women to participate in Young Mothers Connect.
The program is run by Stella Chiv, who earned a college degree in Nairobi and returned to her rural community to help empower the women and children there. Weekly meetings teach parenting skills, job skills, and provide important support for those dealing with gender-based violence.
Right now, the community health center needs a sewing machine!!
With this sewing machine, the women in the community can create reusable diapers for their babies and reusable menstrual products! Having these items will greatly improve their health, their ability to participate in school and work every day of the month, and raise their self-esteem! The sewing machine will also be used to teach tailoring classes and provide jobs and income for those who are interested!
The cost of a sewing machine is out of reach for the average woman in rural Kenya and is not a part of the very small budget provided for the program.
Your donation, however large or small, will make this sewing machine a reality and will impact so many lives for the better!
Thank you for your caring and support for young mothers in need!
