Raising Awareness for Sepsis Awareness
I am a 32 year old female survivor of maternal sepsis. I was diagnosed Feb'24 5 days after a very traumatizing experience I had with an abortion. After my two-day procedure I remember trying to enjoy Valentines Day when chills and soreness took over my body, little did I know the infection would start to take over my body for the next 5 days, leaving me unable to walk. I had to use the notes in my phone to communicate due to me trying to speak would take my breath away, which lead to having breathing tubes down my throat. With my conditions worsening in ICU the doctors let me know I wouldn't make it out alive without undergoing a hysterectomy. Apparently, there was still a huge amount of placenta still in my body even after having a DNC the first day at the hospital. The Sepsis had completely fried my reproductive system leaving me unable to bear children. As a victim, the amount of emotional and physical pain it caused I couldn't help but to start researching and seeing how many other people dealt with this, which lead me to finding Sepsis Alliance. Seeing so many stories etc , never knowing this was ever a "thing". From researching I've found this to be something that is growing more and more and leaves such an effect on people. I'm here to bring awareness to not only Sepsis, but Maternal Sepsis and the cause and effect to something that nearly forced me to have to make a permanent decision in my life just to SAVE my life to still be here for my living 3 year old. I'm not a victim, but a survivor and I can't wait to start the journey to help, heal and bring awareness. Please donate to Sepsis Alliance to help others in need and to continue to grow awareness for Sepsis survivors, those we lost and to their families. I pray my story brings light to this illness.
