SEED High School Seniors Need Your Help
Greetings friends and family,
A few weeks ago, Howard University hosted the only student-led organization at an HBCU entitled Alternative Spring Break (ASB). ASB is an organization that allows students to give back service during their spring break instead of going on a traditional vacation. This year, I was fortunate to be placed in a local, underserved DC public school and charter elementary and high school. One of these schools is SEED High School in Washington, D.C. During our week at SEED, we have built and established mentorship-like bonds with the students and staff and have grown to love the community fostered at SEED in a short time. The seniors plan to go to Virginia Beach, Virginia, for their senior trip, where they hope to see and learn more about the history of Virginia Beach. They will be staying in a nice hotel with 24-hour security. This trip is estimated to be funded at almost $550 per person, in addition to the $200 cap and gown cost to walk the stage. The seniors come from low-income communities from all around DC. They expect to participate in no senior events and, for some, cannot purchase their cap and gown for graduation. We are looking to raise $5000 to help all 49 seniors at SEED High School get the chance to participate in all senior events! Anything is appreciated!
