We got a call early Wednesday morning, January 9, that our alumni, 13-month-old Cayenne, had been hit by a car. Cayenne was adopted from our rescue 2 months ago by a man that we checked out, and he checked all the boxes. Well, that man apparently went to prison, and Cayenne was left with his wife, who admitted to taking Cayenne’s collar off and putting her out on the street. It wasn’t long before she got hit by a car. On her hind leg, the bone is broken clean off her pelvis. This requires multiple trips and visits to WSU even after her surgery on Tuesday. She will require lots of meds as well as 6-8 weeks of care afterward. This poor, sweet dog didn’t deserve any of this. She is scared, confused, and hurt. Please help us to help her only know love and compassion from here on out.
