Digital Preservation of Historic Documents
The Santa Clarita Valley is the home of the first gold, the first oil, the first Western film locations, the deadliest man-made disaster. SCV is the birthplace of California history.
SCVHistory is the brainchild of Leon Worden and the culmination of years of dedication from local historians to be an encyclopedia on the history of the Santa Clarita Valley.
The website showcases thousands of photographs, archival video, documents, newspapers, and written work about the area's history. From the St. Francis Dam disaster to Mentryville, the Tataviam Indians to Vasquez Rocks, SCVHistory has it all.
SCVHistory is in need of purchasing additional digitizing equipment to effectively accommodate the ever-increasing amount of historic media that SCVTV and the Santa Clarita Valley Historical Society are acquiring. With your donation, SCVHistory will be able to equip its team of volunteers with the tools necessary to preserving our community's history.
The SCVHistory volunteers are eternally grateful for your donation. Without you, they would not be able to document and preserve our community's history for future generations. Thank you for your support.
SCVHistory is a service of SCVTV, which is a nonprofit 501c3 based in Santa Clarita, California.
"A people without the knowledge of their past history, origin and culture is like a tree without roots." -- Marcus Garvey
