Saving Great Animals

Please help Saving Great Animals keep Charlie alive! Newly rescued and already soo beloved, this precious boy went in for a neuter and his heart rate dropped so low it became an emergency.  We are thankful he survived.

Charlie has a 3rd degree AV block in his heart and is at extremely high risk of heart failure or a heart attack. He needs a pacemaker immediately and we need to raise funds so that he can live. You won't find a more wonderful boy. 

The estimate for all of the effort (surgery, etc.) is $11k and SGA is prepared to lean in hard to share a big load but now look to our community for the rest.  We are non-profit and not able to pay for emergencies this great.

Saving Great Animals is a matchmaking dog rescue organization based in Seattle but focused on the West Coast. With more than 8500 rescued from sure death and lovingly homed since 2007, we're proud of our all-volunteer team and foster homes. Barkley is improving and we are SO happy that he is alive. He is making progress each day.   Once strong enough, he will start the second part of his long journey to health - heart worm treatment. With YOUR support, we have been able to make steps so far to get him on the mend from his initial near-fatal illness.

We are against the more than 11K bill, not including the full heart worm treatment that will start in December when he is strong enough. That will be about $2k.  While Saving Great Animals is bearing most of the cost burden, we are happy to report we are more than halfway to our initial $6800 goal! EVERY single penny you offer guarantees we can keep working Barkley to health.

We will continue to keep you updated on this darling boy. He has such a soft heart and is so good, we could not fathom not assisting him.

His foster parents love him and we will see if he stays with them forever...it is requiring them to carry him up and down three flights of stairs for every time he has to pee.  He is to remain very calm without a lot of exercise or activity, just for now. They are happy to do it and we are ever grateful.

Meet sweet Rainier. We rescued him in deplorable condition - so matted he was almost unrecognizable.

A full and painful shave down revealed several massive open wounds on his body, crawling with maggots.

Rainier is at our vet now and needs a lot of medical help. His wounds are infected and draining. Several abscesses needs to be opened and biopsied. He will need long-term treatment to help his skin heal. On top of all that, he is severely emaciated and can barely stand because he is so weak.

Rainier is only 3 years old and he deserves a chance at a good life. He is sweet and his eyes are soulful. He is asking us to help him.

SGA is a registered non-profit rescue and these types of vet bills become impossible. Rainier is not the only one in need any we need funds to be able to give him the best of care.
 

Sweet Lena is a 6 year old Cocker Spaniel. She was surrendered to Saving Great Animals a few weeks ago. Her owners told us she was a sweet girl and in good health. Only part of that was true. When Lena arrived at our vet, we discovered that she was in very poor condition. She was smelly, covered in fleas and ticks, and had ear infections. The worst thing though was her eyes. They were crusty, weepy, goopy and very sore looking. She clearly had advanced glaucoma as well as severe infections in both eyes. She was put on a ton of medications but really needed to see an eye specialist. We took her to NW Animal Eye in Renton, who have been wonderful. They checked her out thoroughly and determined that her glaucoma was very serious and irreversible. Even worse, the pressure in both eyes was so high that there is no doubt that Lena was in severe pain. To do nothing would not only cause Lena tremendous pain, but could also cause Lena's eyeballs to spontaneously burst from the pressure. 

Today, November 1st 2017, Lena had surgery to remove both of her eyes. It was the only way to ensure that she would be pain-free. Her vision was already gone so this surgery was just to improve her quality of life. She is such a wonderful girl, so loving and so kind, so funny and so goofy. We cannot wait to see what she will be like when she is no longer in pain. 

Surgeries like these put a huge strain on our finances. Lena is not the only dog in need of expensive surgery and we just cannot keep up with the medical expenses without your help. 

Please consider making a donation to help pay for Lena's surgery. The bill we paid today was $2700, in addition to the $1800 we had already paid to have Lena vetted so far.

We are beside ourselves with one emergency following another.  These two precious, young puppies, Rocky and Pip,  were just rescued by us and within a few days were lethargic and vomiting with confirmed parvovirus, which can be lethal. Depending on how early we caught the virus (we believe early) and how aggressively we treat, they can live. And they most certainly deserve that.

They are in critical care right now at the emergency vet (Blue Pearl) but for them to survive, we must raise the funds, or they will certainly die. The estimate is between $6500 and $10,000, unimaginable.

It is not just raining but pouring. Any help you can provide, any amount, will help make sure they live. We had no choice but to take them into emergency ASAP.
