Having a dog returned multiple times is never easy. Through Brad’s journey, we’ve learned just how deeply owner surrenders can affect a dog’s emotional well-being—and it’s something we hope no dog ever has to experience.

Brad is one of our longest residents. Sadly, he’s been adopted and fostered by several people who, while well-intentioned, simply weren’t the right match. We’ve tried nearly everything: TV segments, adoption events, and carefully screening applicants. But we’ve come to realize that the traditional route just isn’t the best fit for Brad.

Thankfully, @savinggizmosfriends has stepped up in a big way—they’ve agreed to sponsor most of Brad’s training with the incredible @the_canine_republic , who we recently met with. If I could choose any trainer for one of our dogs, it would be Kim Erickson, hands down. Her depth of knowledge, transparency, and genuine care are unmatched. Her home setup is impressive, and every dog there is thriving—happy, well-cared-for, and well-trained. It’s clear she wants the best for Brad.

Brad is scheduled to start a four-week board and train in September, but we’re still $320 short of covering the full cost. We’d also love to get a DNA test (Embark) done so we can better understand his breed mix and needs.

While Brad is in training, our goal is to actively network him and collaborate with Kim, allowing his future adopter to learn and continue the same training methods for a smooth transition.

Saving Gizmo’s Friends Rescue based in Los Angeles was approached by a local resident of South Los Angeles to help a young Husky who was run over by a car Tuesday night. The finder stated the puppy was bleeding and crying out in pain.

Saving Gizmo’s Friends has never turned their back on an animal in need! But with several medical dogs to care for, they are not equipped to take on the financial burden that comes with another emergency vet surgery. They need our help! And they need it now!

The puppy now named Angel was admitted to ICU at ACCESS in Culver City last night . The results of the diagnostics are heart breaking. The impact shattered Angels Tibia and pelvis which will require an expensive orthopedic surgery of upwards of $10,000 plus ICU care. Saving Gizmo’s Friends is in a real pickle! My name is Tami Hulett Murphy, an animal advocate. I'm asking for donations for Saving Gizmo's Friends Foundation. Cassandra Mann has always taken on severe medical cases for dogs in need. In January of this year, she took on an abuse case involving over 50 dogs. Many of them needed to be hospitalized and rehabilitated. She contributed over $150,000 of her own money for the medical care of these dogs.

Today, Courage, an Australian Cattledog, had surgery for multiple fractures in his rear right leg. This dog was going to be euthanized. I called Cassandra desperately asking for help. Even though she was over her budget, she helped get this dog the medical treatment he needed. Just 6 months ago, she helped me with a small Chihuahua that had the same type of fractures. Just these two surgeries alone cost her over $20,000. These examples are just a fraction of the medical rescues she has done. She is truly an angel on this earth for our shelter and abandoned animals.

Not only does she pay for the medical treatment, but she also pays for transporting animals out of state to find the best homes possible for them. She also helps other rescues when they are in need. She is all about helping these dogs and making sure they are healthy and ready for their forever homes. These dogs only go to the best homes. She is very selective as to where they go. She doesn't hesitate to transport them out of state if it means it will be the best for them. Not to mention her participation in spay and neutering programs. She gets dogs behavioral training if needed. It's all about the dogs.

Help Sweet Nova Get the Care She Deserves

Meet Nova, a bright, loving 13-week-old husky puppy who’s already endured more than most dogs face in a lifetime. She was brought to the Moreno Valley Shelter with a painful condition, initially thought to be a leg injury from a car accident. But her story turned out to be far more complex, and heartbreaking.

Loves Legacy Rescue pulled Nova from the shelter, and after seeing that her X-rays showed no actual injury, they realized her condition would require far more care than they could manage, so they connected with Cassandra from Saving Gizmos Friends, who generously stepped in to fund her urgent medical treatment.

After an MRI at MASH (Metropolitan Animal Specialty Hospital), it was revealed that Nova isn’t dealing with a broken bone, but a severe, progressive muscle inflammation. This rare condition is preventing her from bending her leg and growing properly. Her pain worsens every day as her bones outpace her muscle development.

She underwent extensive diagnostics including:

• MRI and EMG to identify the muscle damage – $3,678.37

• Muscle biopsy and lab work to test for infections like neospora – $2,354.41

• And she now faces a necessary leg amputation surgery, with costs ranging between $9,200 and $12,563 ( Updated estimates as of June 17th from Animal Orthopedic Clinic : Low Total: $4,493.73 High Total: $5,125.56

But Nova’s journey doesn’t stop there, after surgery, she will need ongoing physical therapy at the California Animal Rehabilitation (CARE) center to regain strength and adjust to life as a tripod. Your donations will also help cover the cost of this critical rehab care.

Despite everything, Nova is full of life and affection. She loves cuddles, gives sweet kisses, and remains a playful, joyful spirit. With your help, we can give Nova the pain-free, happy life she deserves.
