Situated on the last 16 acres of unprotected, natural green open space along the Los Angeles River in the San Fernando Valley, Weddington Golf & Tennis opened its doors in the mid-1950s. The Weddington property consists of a 9-hole, par 3 golf course, a disc golf course, driving range, putting green, and clubhouse, along with 16 tennis courts.

 

Historically, for nearly 70 years, millions of golf and tennis fans from all over the City of Los Angeles and the San Fernando Valley have enjoyed the iconic recreational site, which possesses historical, recreational, environmental, and sentimental value. Based on the recommendation of a city commission of expert historians, in 2021, Weddington Golf & Tennis was declared a Los Angeles City Historic-Cultural Monument (HCM).

 

However, the site is still threatened with demolition due to Harvard-Westlake School's proposed "River Park" plan. Such a loss would be devastating and unthinkable for a community and City that has cherished the site from day one. Angelenos have an unwavering commitment to preserving this irreplaceable green open space in the heart of the San Fernando Valley.

 

If you or anyone you know has ever played at the Weddington facility or you simply want to help preserve this unique slice of Los Angeles history, we need your help. We are respectfully requesting donations for our legal fund to help preserve the historically significant, publicly accessible recreational facilities at Weddington for future generations.
