Hospital for Ouanaminthe in Haiti

Santé-Soleil was born out of grief. Savio Garçon lost his father in Port au Prince to a treatable disease (asthma) for which if he had received timely and adequate care would not have cost him his life. It was appalling that in this day and age and despite the countless aid received, in hospitals across Port au Prince everyday hundreds of people die of lack of proper and timely health care assistance. The situation is even worse in remote cities, particularly in border cities where distressed families would cross over from their underserved communities to the Dominican Republic to receive medical care. Something had to be done. What started as a distant idea became a project: Santé-Soleil, a hospital situated in the border city of Ouanaminthe, dedicated to providing medical care to the local community. Today, this project is supported by a diverse team of professionals from the medical field and beyond, all aiming to give back to their native land with their talents, time, and fortitude. Santé-Soleil aims to strengthen its presence in Ouanaminthe and feasibly expand to other underserved remote cities.
