My name is Stephenie, and I am the founder of Samory’s Way, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit I started 23 years after the death of my son. For over 21 years, I lived in a world of depression, grief, and silent pain. For decades, I carried a loss that reshaped my life, often without the support, resources, or safe spaces needed to truly heal. Samory’s Way was born from that journey. I made a decision to turn my pain into purpose, an amazing way to honor my son Samory instead of only grieving.

Imagine a child starting school without supplies, a mother struggling to meet the basic needs of her family, or a parent searching for healing after the loss of their child. At Samory’s Way, we exist to support and uplift those facing life’s most difficult seasons. I started this fundraiser not for myself, but for those who are walking their own difficult paths: young women searching for guidance, children in need of support to succeed, and families facing daily struggles both locally and abroad.

The funds raised will directly support three critical initiatives. Our Young Women’s Leadership Program, Crowned for Purpose, empowers young women ages 15–21 through mentorship, leadership development, and life-skills training, helping them build confidence, resilience, and a sense of purpose. Our Book Bag Giveaway provides students in New York and Buford, South Carolina with backpacks filled with essential school supplies so they can begin the school year prepared, confident, and not defined by what they lack. Last year alone, because of donations, Samory’s Way was able to give away 730 book bags. In addition, a portion of the funds will be used to purchase and send adult diapers to families in Côte d’Ivoire and South Africa, meeting an urgent and ongoing need that directly impacts the health, dignity, and well-being of elderly men and women.

This work is deeply personal for me because I know what it means to suffer in silence, and what it means when support finally shows up. Samory’s Way helps individuals transform pain into purpose, empowering them to move from where they are today into a stronger, hope-filled tomorrow. Every donation is more than a gift; it is an act of compassion, belief, and partnership in changing lives.
