August 23, 2020 UPDATE:

PomPom's foster mom says he is doing great after his surgery!  He had is cone removed and he is eating well!  He is very food motivated!  PomPom will be ready for adoption shortly.  If you are interested in adopting PomPom or any other Sammy's Hope dog, please complete an adoption questionnaire online at www.sammyshope.org



PomPom came to Sammy's Hope from a NJ Municipal Shelter. He is approximately 8 years old and was found as a stray on the streets.

PomPom seems to have experienced a trauma to his head and as a result, his eye was protruding and severely injured. He was matted, not neutered and has decayed teeth.

Sammy's Hope immediately took PomPom to the veterinarian to receive appropriate, urgent medical care.  PomPom immediately had to have surgery to remove his eye, as it was the best course of action for him.  He was also neutered, received an extensive medical/dental exam, and groomed (all matting was removed).   Once fully recovered from the eye removal surgery, PomPom will have a second surgery to remove his decayed teeth.

PomPom is currently recovering in a loving foster home.  Words from his foster mom post-op:
"He is doing awesome! He welcomes you with twirls and tail wagging when you come home and loves to go on walks and seems to be house broken. "

PomPom is not yet available for adoption. We want to be sure he is completely recovered before meeting the many interested adopters we are sure he will have!

Sammy's Hope mission is to place homeless animals in loving, forever homes while providing shelter, medical care and enrichment.  We have had some large medical expenses over the past few months and need  your help. 

Harry was left at a city shelter with a broken jaw.

Fendi, at 8 years old was turned in to a large city shelter, losing the only home she ever knew, scared, and bleeding from her nose, all caused by a tumor.

Sweet little kitten Joy was abandoned with a failing heart.

These helpless animals were suffering, and we had to help, we were not going to leave them behind.

These are just a few of the extreme medical cases costing over $15,000.00 so far this year – and its only March!

With immediate medical attention and the loving care given by all of the Sammy's Hope volunteers, Harry is sporting his new straightened jaw, Fendi is feeling so much better now that she can smell, hear and swallow normally with the tumor removed,  and Joy is getting all the medical care and TLC she needs to live out her life.

They counted on us and we were there. But now we need help with the overwhelming medical expenses.
