UPDATE

We are still looking to raise a few more dollars so that Heritier Mpo can rebuild his primate rescue facility, putting in fencing and security features that will stop and prevent poachers and people who are fighting against his efforts to stop the bushmeat trade in his region, from coming back.

We want to show them that nothing will stop our efforts to save endangered primates and other wildlife from being killed and poached to extinction. Many of the species that are poached from the forest are critically endangered and rare. Without Heritier's efforts to stop the bushmeat trade in his area, many primate species may go extinct in that area.

SAFE Worldwide, a non-profit 501(c)(3) is raising funds for the NGO Appacol-PRN in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, where poachers destroyed Heritier Mpo's building, including all his office equipment, his computer, and everything he had worked so hard for all these years to help rescue animals from the bushmeat trade and the illegal animal trade that is killing off the wildlife in that region.

We are raising fund so he can rebuild his offices, purchase material for his clinic, the enclosures for the animals he rescues (until they can be either released or brought to JACK Sanctuary, a safe place for rescued primates in the DRC), a computer, medicine and the necessary electronics to keep his organization going.

Poaching involves illegal wildlife trafficking, the illegal animal pet trade, and poaching of animal body parts, typically used for traditional medicine or as a status symbol for success. All of these are illegal and yet, it is believed to be the most lucrative illegal industry in the world, bringing in more than $20Billion dollars a year.
