13.1 Miles for Meaning
Another day in the Q (“quarantine”) and as we continue, I wanted to share some of my reflections in this time. I’ve always felt that a part of life is about progress, growth, development – in one word: improvement. As I sit day by day in my home, it’s left me feeling jolted – frozen in time as our healthcare workers and essential personnel fight this virus.
During this time, as I’m sure we can all relate on different levels – has been difficult. To keep myself sane, I’ve continued with the regularly scheduled programming at work (with gratitude,) and as an activity to promote progress, I am training for a half-marathon that I had registered for on May 24th which will now take place virtually.
It occurred to me that when I run the 13.1 miles on May 24th, it will just be another logged run. I want to change that.
The quarantine has left most of us in our homes, and I am lucky to be in a safe home. Others might not be so lucky. My humble ask, as I share this note with you – is to support me in my virtual race and make a donation to Safe & Sound Somerset, a lead domestic violence agency near my hometown. Its mission is to empower survivors of domestic abuse and engage the community to break the cycle of violence.
My fundraising goal is $1,310 representing $100 for every mile I run, which will in turn support an individual in need. Let’s hope this contribution will lead to a life improved.
