What is Sabura?

SABURA’s mission is to educate, engage and empower youth and families through carefully designed, culturally, and linguistically tailored programming that is affordable, safe and affirming.

SABURA has been serving the youth and families of Brockton for 10 years and now reaches over 300 families. Programming includes after school and the signature summer program, as

well as tutoring, workshops, events and ESOL classes for parents and families. SABURA’s mission is to educate, engage and empower youth and families through carefully designed,

culturally, and linguistically tailored programming that is affordable, safe and affirming.

What is Youth SOL?

Youth SOL is the youth organizing lane of Brockton Interfaith Community, a social justice organization that has been serving Brockton since 1990. Youth SOL is especially dedicated to

young people's liberation and seeks to empower youth to listen to each other and to believe in and use their voices to be powerful agents of the changes they want to see in their own communities, while the youth empower the community to do the same. In a world where most adults struggle to believe change is possible, Youth SOL’s mission is for youth to experience being agents of change while they still believe they can be, so that they never begin to believe they can’t be.

The student ambassadors at SABURA and community leaders at Youth SOL/Brockton Interfaith Community are hosting this fundraiser for better soccer fields in Brockton. Youth are getting hurt playing on soccer fields that have holes. They need to go outside of Brockton often to play soccer. Soccer is a very important sport to Brockton youth and it is a way for youth to stay engaged, healthy and out of trouble. This is deeply needed in Brockton. Our

Parks Department does not have adequate funding to maintain the fields at the level needed. As our city experiences budget issues, let’s come together to support our Parks Department and, most importantly, our young people!
