S.P.O.T.

S.P.O.T. is a companion animal rescue and placement organization that began in 1999 with the dream of offering foster care for displaced or surrendered pets. The MISSION of this all-volunteer organization is to find appropriate homes for the pets in our care. Dedicated to minimizing neglect, abandonment, and abuse of pets, S.P.O.T. spays or neuters pets before adoption to help control the population of unwanted cats and dogs. We also offer financially limited pet owners in our local communities assistance for urgent or emergency veterinary care to keep companion pets in their homes. S.P.O.T. is not a shelter turning out hundreds of adoptable pets yearly. Many of the pets we take in need some sort of health care or behavioral remediation before they are adopted. The greatest percentage of our annual expenses go towards this care.

We love this little old house that has become S.P.O.T.’s home and have done a lot of work developing it with the skills, donated time, and labor of volunteers. However, some things require professionals. We’ve been ignoring the tilt of the floors in part of the house for a while now hoping it would not get worse, but that just never happens. It’s at the point that anything with wheels rolls to the west and people often comment on it when they enter. The only fix is to raise and stabilize the foundation. We were prepared for what we thought would be a hefty bill but were shocked when we received estimates for more than twice the anticipated amount.

In order to honor the donations we receive specifically for the care of our rescued pets, we decided to try this fundraiser to help with our project. We’re hoping to fund raise at least half of the cost of this repair, which would be $25,000.
