This started as a challenge between Grant Hamel and I to push ourselves to get fitter for 2026 and for me to finally complete a full climb and descent of Snowdon, which had unfortunately defeated me last year due to injury. During our discussion, a simple reattempt had escalated into a fundraising expedition involving Geoff and Andrew from Spectrum IT, local community members and business leaders to raise funds for our very own Roses Theatre here in Tewkesbury! And not just one mountain, but two! Cadair Idris and Snowdon.

The Roses Theatre has been Spectrum IT Consultancy's chosen charity for the last three years as it holds a special place in our hearts. They do so much for the local community delivering performances, workshops and educational programmes for our town. What has truly been special to be part of is supporting The Roses Theatre in producing creative programmes for SEND schools that nurtures skills, builds confidence and encourages children to collaborate on fun art productions.

The Roses Theatre does not receive any Arts Council funding and has been long supported by their local patrons to deliver the programmes that enrich our lives and strengthens our town. That's why we have felt it important to step up and raise as much as we can to go towards such an important part of our town.

I'm stealing this line directly from Caroline Lawrence from The Roses : "Every step up the mountain helps keep this magic alive in Tewkesbury for future generations."

When a group of locals (all supporters of The Roses already, including one trustee!) asked me if I’d join them on a fundraising expedition to raise funds for The Roses, I couldn’t say no (no, really, they wouldn’t let me!).

Joking aside, I jumped at the chance - I honestly can’t wait to hike Snowdon and Cadair Idris over two days, it’ll be a bigger challenge than I’ve done before and I'm spending every spare minute training HARD so I'm not the last one to the top.

The Roses Theatre exists to promote education and joy through the arts. From drama, dance, music, and literature to visual and creative arts, it gives people of all ages a place to discover confidence, imagination, and connection. Every donation will help create real impact in Tewkesbury’s community - the arts is not well funded and The Roses currently receives NO government or local authority funding.
