Jimmy Jordan Memorial: Tenor Sax to MHS Jazz Band
The late Jimmy Jordan was a musical icon and community leader in Martinsville-Henry County. He brought countless smiles to music fans all over the mid-Atlantic and beyond with his warm, soulful skills on the tenor saxophone. Rooster Walk Inc., a nonprofit dedicated to promoting music, arts and education in our home of Martinsville-Henry County, VA., reached out to Martinsville High School band director Brian Joyce and asked if the Jazz Band had any needs that we could help with in memory of Jimmy. Mr. Joyce responded by saying that a very nice tenor sax would fill a big need for the band. If we reach our fundraising goal, we will buy an awesome tenor sax, then add a brass name plate to the instrument, dedicating it in Jimmy's memory. The horn will be used by the first chair tenor sax player in the MHS Jazz Band each year. If there is a remaining balance after purchasing the horn, all funds will be used by Mr. Joyce to fill smaller MHS Band needs through the Rooster Walk Music Instrument Program. Rooster Walk Inc. is a 501c3 nonprofit. All donations are tax deductible. Our tax ID # is 45-5130096.
