It was confirmed (by 3 vets now) that Reba requires her ear canals to be removed. Long term, untreated ear infections have led to her ear canals calcifying and causing her great discomfort and pain.

We have only one option, to get her this surgery!
We cannot leave her in pain and scratching her ears for the rest of her life.

The surgery first requires blood work and a CT scan of the ear canals and skull to ensure there is not further damage, deeper behind the ear drum that would not normally be seen during the surgery. And to assure all areas of infection and calcification are removed. This needs to be done one week prior to surgery. Cost ~ $1880

We have posted this expense estimate on our social media sites and received what we're sure were best intended suggestions to seek 2nd opinions, additional estimates, etc... But as a rescue, we cannot afford to run all over town scheduling multiple consultation visits, pay for multiple consultation visits, and the wait of weeks to months that most specialty vets are scheduling out just to get an appointment would be keeping Reba in pain and discomfort longer by doing so.

Please know we have done our research, we have taken her to 3 vets, (2 specialty vets) and have inquired with others on our options and costs.
This is the best route for Reba!

We are asking for our donors to dig deep on this one we know. But Reba is suffering and there's nothing further we can do for her until funds are raised!

We have additionally applied for several medical grants, but those take months to acquire, if even approved.

What else do we need to say? This boy is a SURVIVOR beyond all survivor dogs. His will to live, and live a happy life (tail ALWAYS wagging) is like nothing we've ever seen.

He's endured being shot




Endured EIGHT WEEKS of "attempted repair" (Mexico style)



Resulting in his leg being amputated.


Which then turned into a huge staph infection


He tested positive for TVT (a sexually transmitted disease known in Mexico dogs) and once the amputation resolved, it was found he also has an old fracture in his hip from a bb shot!


Now it's time to give him a prosthetic limb to help him move around without the added pressure and discomfort on his, unable to be treated, old hip fracture. A specially molded prosthetic just for Fender : https://www.aocpet.com/products/dog-full-limb-prosthetic

We KNOW this is an expense outside the usual realm of "rescue care", but if you've followed Rockstar Rescue and followed Fender's journey, you'll know that we NEVER STOP doing anything and everything we can.

Not only would this prosthetic help Fender while in our care, but it would go with him once his permanent home is found to help him throughout his entire life :)

The sooner funds are secured, the sooner Fender can have the ability to live as much like a normal dog again as possible.
