Who We Are

Hello! We are a group of students at Colorado State University participating in a senior capstone course. We are focused on addressing real-world social challenges through research, community engagement, and social impact initiatives.

For our project, our team chose to focus on education inequality in Colorado, specifically how families of low income and color often face barriers to accessing the same educational opportunities as some peers.

During our research, we discovered how important organizations like RISE Colorado are in helping families advocate for stronger schools, better resources, and more equitable educational opportunities.

This campaign is part of our effort to raise awareness about these issues and support organizations working to create positive change in our state.

Overall, our mission as a group is to empower families and students to receive a fair educational experience and build a better future for the upcoming generation of students. Why Are We Supporting RISE Colorado?

Across Colorado, significant gaps in educational opportunity still exist between communities. While many schools across the state perform well, students in lower-income and historically underserved communities often face barriers that limit access to the same educational resources and opportunities as their peers.

These challenges can include differences in school funding, limited access to academic support programs, fewer extracurricular opportunities, and lower availability of educational resources in certain communities. When families are not fully informed about how school systems work or how to advocate for improvements, these gaps can become even more difficult to address.

Research from the Colorado Department of Education shows that many students across the state are still struggling to meet grade-level reading and academic benchmarks. These early educational gaps can have long-term impacts on graduation rates, career opportunities, and overall economic mobility.
