Jim Hudson Auto Employees Raising Funds to replace Bumi
Recently, you may have heard about Bumi, the Richland County Sheriff K-9, who was tragically shot and killed in the line of duty while trying to apprehend a suspect. What you may not know is that Bumi was purchased by Jim Hudson Automotive Group through our partnership with Steel Hands Brewery and their special beer, “Steel Paws.” This year, Sheriff Lott and the Richland County Sheriff’s Department lost three dogs to death in the line of duty and lost a fourth dog who had to be medically retired due to injuries sustained in the line of duty. For us, Bumi was the hardest one to cope with, knowing our funds were used to purchase him.
Jim Hudson Automotive Group, for almost 45 years, has had three pillars of the business: our employees, customers, and community. Every decision made must benefit these three groups before it is done. Our law enforcement and their K-9s benefit and protect all three of these pillars.
We, as Jim Hudson Automotive Group, would like to assist Sheriff Lott and the Richland County Sheriff’s Department in raising funds to purchase Bumi’s replacement. Each K-9 costs approximately $15,000 to purchase and train. Jim and Keith Hudson have agreed to match all donations given by Jim Hudson employees to help replace Bumi.
