Renewal

My name is Lily Kudowitz.  The cause of helping those suffering  from chronic kidney disease is very important and personal to me.   In honor of my bat mitzvah, I plan to spend the next 12 months raising money and awareness to both directly benefit the lives of people living with kidney disease, as well ongoing medical research initiatives. My goals are to raise money for Renewal (an organization that helps match those in need of a kidney transplant with donors), raise money for groundbreaking medical research, and increase awareness about chronic kidney disease.

I decided to take on this cause as my bat mitzvah project in honor of my little brother, Paul.  He has inspired me to help the hundreds of thousands of other families impacted by chronic kidney disease as well.

   My name is Avigayil. In a few weeks from now, I will be celebrating my bat mitzvah. For my bat mitzvah project, I have chosen to support an organization called Renewal. My father joined together with other members of the Baltimore community to help people in need of a kidney transplant. In honor of my bat mitzvah, I have chosen to be a part of this mitzvah. Firstly I would like to encourage anyone who is healthy and willing to help save another life, to contact Renewal to get tested to see if they can donate a kidney. If you are not able to, that’s okay....you can still help! I am trying to raise as much money as I can for Renewal to help save many lives.

   Renewal is a nonprofit organization that is dedicated to assisting people suffering from kidney disease. They are there for every patient and their family at every stage of the challenging journey towards health. Renewal provides many services to both the donor and recipient. January 2017 my father needed a kidney. Our friends would ask around see if they knew anyone who could donate. But then we found an organization called Renewal. Renewal is an amazing organization in Brooklyn New York that helps people find kidneys donors. My father was very ill and in three days he found a kidney donor. We are so grateful that he got this surgery, in such a short amount of time. Unfortunately my father he did not make it because of post surgery complications. In honor of my Bat mitzvah I am raising money for this organization in my fathers name. My goal is to raise as much money as possible for Renewal so they can use that money to expand their organization, and to find more donors. I chose this organization so people like my father can live a better life. When I am older I plan to donate a kidney, but until then I will just raise money for this beautiful organization. This project is in memory of my beloved father, Charles Jordan Levy קלמן יעקוב בן אהרון יחזקל who I miss every single day.
