Hi friends and family!
This year I’ve given myself the challenge of running the Bridge to Brisbane in honour of my little brother, Jai.
The last 4 years has been a rollercoaster of cancer remissions and cancer relapses for Jai. In March, my family got the news of his third relapse.
Those that have struggled with a personal or family cancer diagnosis know the feeling of helplessness when it comes to giving a hand. More often than not, there is nothing you can do but sit and offer a supportive smile.
Now there is something you can do - up until race day on August 29th, I will be holding a fundraiser for Redkite, a charity that supports kids and their families struggling with cancer. They provide support to children and young people up to 24 years with cancer and their families, from hospital to home, with emotional support, financial assistance, counselling, and educational and bereavement support.
Every single day in Australia, 3 kids and their families receive a cancer diagnosis. Worldwide, around 400 000 children are diagnosed with cancer yearly. That’s around 1095 diagnoses made daily, or around 45 per hour.
It’s your turn to give to the community by supporting Redkite - every dollar will count and you’ll sport a smile knowing you’re helping a family going through the cancer journey. All money raised will go towards supporting Redkite.
Jai, you are truly an inspiration to everyone - your resilience and strength is a force not to be reckoned with. This is for you bro
