Stop Laurence Fox taking our name #ReclaimRECLAIM
As a working-class young woman I'm used to people trying to sideline me. But Laurence Fox trying to take the name of a charity I love is something else.
RECLAIM is an amazing grassroots charity in Manchester supporting lots of working class young people like me. It's given me the opportunities and confidence to speak up for the issues that matter to our communities and do something positive.
Laurence Fox is an actor with wealthy backers who wants to fight a culture war about things like Gillette ads he doesn't like and boycotting Sainsbury's for its support for Black History Month.
He could have picked any name, so why choose to take something from working-class young people? It's completely wrong and lots of young people at RECLAIM are really upset about it.
If RECLAIM has taught us anything it's to stand up for what we believe in and have our say. We need your help. Laurence Fox has £5 million (!!!!!!!) from one mega-wealthy donor. But we have all of you.
We want to create a #ReclaimRECLAIM fighting fund to help us campaign against him taking our name. We'll use the money to pay for videos, support for us to speak to the media and promote our messages on social media. What money is left over we'll make sure goes to RECLAIM's programmes to support even more young people.
With your help we can keep our name and make sure the next generation of leaders come from working-class communities like ours.
