Reba Early Learning Ctr"Back to Work" Campaign
Dear Friends of Reba Early Learning Center,
Many families, as you know, need to go back to work to not only help their dire financial situation but also to help re-start our economy. It will take all of us together to make this work as everyone can peacefully help to make the world a better place right now.
Consider these statistics--In one recent study, 45% of parents who have been out of work but are expecting to be called back by their employers as the economy opens do not have someone to take on their child care responsibilities when that happens.[1]With federal stimulus support for unemployed workers running out next month, these workers will need to get back to work—but they need child care to do so.
Even more, children need what Reba can provide. During the shutdown, 1 in 5 children has gone hungry[2] as families have lost work and school meals. Emotional distress among children, from the strain of parent joblessness, family illness, and the loss of social connections, has skyrocketed.[3]Now more than ever, our children will need high-quality, trauma-informed care to recover and thrive.
New restrictions and social distancing related to Covid-19 need to be in place for the safety and health of our children, families, and teachers. Reba will need to purchase personal protective equipment, health check items, classroom furniture, materials, and increase supplies for cleaning and sanitization. Additional teachers are needed for maintaining social distancing and continuing to provide high quality care and education for a reduced number of children in classrooms. Tough to do right now!
Reba needs your help to remain operable as an early childhood care and education program for young children. Many families need a safe place for their children as they return to work.
