Hi, my name is Benny. I was brought into the Lancaster shelter and am super scared of men (I don’t mean to be, but unfortunately there must have been a man who previously didn’t treat me well). But that doesn’t stop me from loving life, even the shelter staff could tell! In fact, all of the shelter staff LOVED me so much that I quickly became a ‘staff favorite!’ 

Unfortunately, even being staff favorite isn’t enough for a pittie like me to get noticed . So I sat, I. wished, and I waited as the shelter got fuller and fuller… The shelter became so full that I was scheduled to be killed because they needed more room for other pups like me (pitties like me don’t get noticed as much as the other pups). But then a miracle happened.

Miracle part 1 - An amazing rescue organization got me out of the shelter hours before I was going to be euthanized (wahoo!). 

Miracle part 2- They put me into a boarding & training program so I can let my true colors shine while they find my future forever family. 

Although I’m so grateful for the boarding/training program, us pups don’t usually get the love and 1 on 1 attention/zen environment in boarding facilities like we do in a warm home (I still have to be in a cage here, just like at the shelter). I’ve been in this boarding/training program for almost 2 years and would love to be able to move into a foster home as the next step in my journey (being in a home will make me feel so cozy, and comfortable, and also allow the rescue to get cute photos of me to show off to the world and help find my forever home!). Unfortunately, that step costs more money and the amazing rescue org needs help raising money to make that next step happen. 

Miracle part 3- Here’s what the rescue org that saved me are looking for: 

* We need to raise funds to get Benny in a professional foster environment with someone who is also a trainer and who will showcase Benny as the dream Angel that he is.


* The in-home foster/ trainer will cost $700 a week and we think that in a month of Benny settling into a new environment with a new human, we will be able to get the footage that we need to be able to help this sweet boy never have to be kenneled ever again.


* Our goal is to raise $8,500 (in tax-deductible donations) to cover the minimum 3-month time period required by the new trainer who will be fostering him in their home, networking him and socializing him.

It's that time of year when we gather to celebrate all the dogs who have been saved, rehabilitated and adopted because of our incredible community of supporters like you.

Individuals - minimum donation of $175

Couples & families - minimum donation of $275

Special donation - minimum donation of $2,500 will receive a pet portrait session with editorial and advertising photographer Shayan Asgharnia (must be in Los Angeles, only two sessions available).

100% of donations will go directly to Real Good Rescue and be tracked through this GoFundMe page.

Because Real Good Rescue's main focus is on the senior and medical dogs in our local shelters, our costs for vetting each dog are on the higher end, with an average minimum cost of $1,500 per dog, but not limited to $25,000 per dog.

Here's a breakdown of how your donation will benefit the dogs of

Real Good Rescue:

$100 - 1 month of food for 1 dog

$150 - gas and transport costs from getting a dog from the shelter, to the vet and into a foster home

$250 - 2 large crates

$350 - initial supplies - crate, crate mat, bed, supplements, collar, leash

$550 - initial vetting; including spay/ neuter, microchip and vaccines for 1 dog

$1000 - initial vetting, including spay/ neuter, microchip and vaccines, supplies - crate, crate mat, bed, supplements, collar, leash and 1 month of food for 1 dog.

$2000 - one month of boarding for one dog

$3500 - 4 weeks of board and train for 1 dog

Other - because RGR wants to be sure all dogs are also behaviorally vetted before placing them in a home, some dogs have required professional assessment along with boarding due to not having the appropriate foster or adopter. Jeff, for example, has been in boarding with professional trainers and with a paid foster, with a total of $18,000 spent thus far (not including supplies or medical care). Betty, one of our medical dogs, had her first hip replacement on 11.15.22 with an $11,000 price tag. She'll have the second hip replacement in 8-12 weeks for another $11,000 (this does not include her spay surgery or initial medical vetting and supplies).
