
QCDO and Quitman County HS Class 65 CARES -
Quitman County Development Organization (QCDO) and Quitman County High School Class of 1965 are raising relief funds for families, friends, and citizens of Quitman County MS who were affected directly or in-directly by the Coronavirus Pandemic (COVID-19).
According to the United States Census, Quitman County located in the Mississippi Delta is one of the 10 poorest in the nation with 37.6% of Quitman Countians living in poverty. The median household income is $27,767, that’s less than half the national average of $61,937. According to the County Administrator, “citizen barely have money to make it from paycheck to paycheck”. Envision the economic impact and stress NOW during the time of this Pandemic where approximately 90% of those working is now unemployed or were denied unemployment compensation, and/or where essential workers that have income below the poverty level. This is truly a community with an urgent need of our financial support!
