Quantico Orienteering Club Inc (QOC)

QOC, which began holding events in 1967 and was formally founded in 1979, strives to advance and promote the sport of orienteering. Often the core component of adventure races, navigating around a course based on the use of detailed maps is the core feature of this primarily outdoor sport, whether practiced on foot, bike, canoe or other conveyance. QOC holds events open to the public in which (free) instruction is provided on map reading and navigating techniques, and all events include beginner level courses. Through the education provided at events and through publications, the physical and mental challenges involved in this sport are also complemented by a set of environmental principles designed to promote proper care of our outdoor resources.
