2025 has begun with incredible challenges and so much loss for so many in the Los Angeles area. Our hearts and support efforts are with all those affected by the Wildfires throughout so many of our communities.

Because of that, it feels uncomfortable to ask for donations, for what may seem like an unimportant event to many, at such a time. But then I realized, this is what we do. We bring hope and opportunity to our students when the schools cannot and that is always a worthy cause. Schools are at the center of our communities and we should always do our best to support our future leaders.

We are the Students of the Video Production & Media Program together with DANIEL PEARL MAGNET HIGH SCHOOL PTSA and we are asking you to help us reach our goal to send our deserving, hardworking & talented students to the Student Television Network National Convention in Tampa Bay , FL on March 1st, 2025 and in funding the Video Production program.

It's crunch time! We have to book and pay for the flights and finalize the hotel rooms. Please, we need your support now.

The video production program, newly led by Tennessee Reid Norton , whose credits include The Nightmare Before Christmas, and Guillermo del Toro's Pinocchio, to name a few, is one of only 2 Arts Programs in our school. Due to the small size of our school, (under 200 students enrolled,) our fundraising efforts can often be an uphill battle and securing funds from the district and state can feel like trying to climb UP the Down escalator, but you just fall flat on your face.

If PTSA cannot not raise these funds, NONE of the students will be allowed to attend due to the LAUSD equity rules.

The students have been working hard getting ready to compete and we would hate if FUNDING was the reason they could not go.

Please help us reach our goal! Any funding not used for STN, will be used to support the video production program at DPMHS .

DPMHS PTSA & Video Production Program

Please help nine journalism students from Daniel Pearl Magnet High School in Los Angeles get to Boston for the national high school journalism convention in Boston in November. All of these students are on the staff of the award-winning The Pearl Post magazine and website. Most of these students are new to the publications staff this year so attending this convention will be a great opportunity for them to learn many new skills, compete in on-site contests and meet other student journalists from across the country. Two of our students attending the convention are finalists in the National Scholastic Press Association's Individual Awards: one for a blog and another for multimedia news story. Winners will be announced at the convention. Please donate to help offset some of the students' costs to attend this convention, which will likely be a highlight of their high school years.
