We rescued three feral cats from Project Purr about three years ago and Lynne at Project Purr has been nothing but supportive and knowledgeable during the entire process – helping us acclimate our two Siamese and one tabby cats, not only during the initial process but over the years whenever we had questions or concerns. Sadly, one of our Siamese cats left after about a year or so, which is to be expected, but we’ve continued to enjoy our other two feline friends, who have in turn continued to keep our rodent population down and keep us company at the same time.
This past week, one of our kitty companions, Loki, showed up for dinner limping and unable to put pressure on his back foot. We noticed that his back claw was out of position, and we waited a few days to see if it would improve. He continued to show that he was in pain and unable to use his foot, so we decided we needed to seek healthcare for him. After initial treatment, our vet let us know that he had suffered significant trauma to his back feet and that his toe would need to be amputated.
One of our dogs had major surgery during that same week after years of chronic feet issues. We have insurance for our dogs but not for our feral cats. We were facing not being able to pay further to help Loki, who we have become quite fond of over the years. While Loki is feral, he comes up to us, rubs our legs and is able to receive belly rubs, which is unusual for a feral kitty. He purrs loudly and curls up next to our door and watches us through our bedroom from the railing of our deck. Loki is a very friendly kitty who we’ve grown quite fond of.
We let Lynne at Project Purr know about our dilemma and by the next morning she was able to let us know that Project Purr would be able to cover Loki’s surgery! We were so relieved and grateful that this special boy would be able to have a second chance through the generosity and kindness of this amazing organization. Project Purr has not only helped Loki once but twice in such an amazing and generous way. We are beyond grateful for this incredible organization and what they do. We will be renaming Loki to Lucky, for he is surely one lucky boy!
Please help this amazing organization as they continue to support animals in need like our dear by Loki/Lucky! Project Purr cannot do any of this work without the generous donations of people like you. Animals like Loki and or other two feline friends, who are labeled as feral, would surely be euthanized if they were not given another chance at a different life – one where they can thrive and be part of a loving home in a way that’s right for them. Thank you for your generous support and for caring for our animal friends!
