Helping Kenyan Teachers
My name is Beth Cain. As many of you may know, in June 2023 I traveled to Kenya to get an overview of Project Lucas, a project near and dear to my heart. Project Lucas is a Christian non-profit organization that seeks to provide food, medical care, and education to orphans and children affected by poverty and HIV/AIDS in Kenya.
As a retired teacher, it's the children that pulled on my heartstrings! One of the cornerstones of Project Lucas is providing education for these children. While the teachers are gifted and very dedicated, it was a shock to see how few supplies, materials and pieces of basic equipment these teachers have to work with.
It's my heart's desire to remedy the lack of teaching materials for these children. But, I need your help! I asked the principal and teachers to come up with a list of needed supplies and the estimated cost of for each in Kenyan shillings. The total came to about $5000 US dollars. The total is shockingly low for all the supplies it will provide - a copy machine, a laminator, story books, dictionary, sound system, paints, musical instruments to name only a few!!
All of the money collected on GoFundMe.com minus the fee of 2.9% charged by GoFundMe.com, will go directly to the Project Lucas School for the teachers' supplies. By your donation, you will be giving the infinite gifts of language, reading and basic education to these children.
I've set the goal of $5000 to be raised by Valentines Day - a day when Love is remembered and celebrated! Will you share in this "Gift of Love" to the children at Project Lucas School?
Thank you for partnering with me! I plan to share photos once Project Lucas School has received all the supplies.
