Closed go fund me but PAWS could always use the help. Adopted! Emily needs Surgery! She needs help getting the funds!
It all started back in March of 2023 when my friend Emily, the sweet 2 year old husky/shepherd, found herself in a foster situation that did not work out. She was attacked by another dog and needed a new foster quick. The foster-based, animal rescue organization she was in was not able to find her a new foster. Many like H2M2~Ohio (that is where I first saw her) tried to help, so she was posted, shared online, and she had a lot of people pulling for her, but no connection and no foster. However, PAWS (Progressive Animal Welfare Society of Monroe Ohio) connected with her in April 2023, and her future was on the horizon.
Emily came to the no kill nonprofit with a wound on her face from the attack. They kept hoping she would heal as she made friends and PAWS as a new home. In August Emily's wound took a turn for the worse, her facial wound stopped healing. Monroe Family Pet Hospital recommended a consultation to Med Vet. On August 25, 2023 PAWS took her to Cincinnati Med Vet surgeons (and to get a pup cup for moral support ). We found out that Emily should get a possible CT scan to identify a possible foreign body at her two wound tracks. Additionally, they recommended a blood panel and explorative surgery to help remove scar tissue, investigate the wound tracks, and restart the healing of her wound. Her treatment plan is to at least schedule the surgery. For an adoption center like PAWS, who does not get any government money, this is a large expenditure for her care that she needs to receive. This is not something that the center can budget for. Any amount will help and be appreciated beyond belief. Thank you and God Bless.
Med Vet surgical bill minimum is $3,000 and could be $5,200 - $6,200 as noted in the attachment (see additional $375 for consultation and blood work).
Notes from Colleen about Emily:
Emily absolutely loves children, her previous foster said she adores them! She can be a little weary of strangers at first (adults) but once she realizes she can trust them she is all about getting love. Emily is very eager to learn and please her people. When I first I met her, she was shy and reserved, but 5 mins after giving her peace, love, and patience, she started to come out of her shell. She has adjusted to the kennel staff and volunteers well. She is working on her leash manners, but does well with other dogs, once she sees they are friends and not foes. At PAWS she gets an introduction to other dogs and has found some doggy play groups. She is crate and potty-trained, but a fence jumper. Emily is doing okay at PAWS but would love to find an adoptee so she can thrive. [PAWS takes appointments for serious inquiries about meet and greets for potential adoptees.]
This Go Fund Me campaign is for PAWS of Monroe Ohio to use for the care of Emily regarding her upcoming surgery at Med Vet Cincinnati.

More information about Progressive Animal Welfare Society Adoption Center, Inc.: The Progressive Animal Welfare Society, now better known as PAWS Animal Adoption Center, was originally formed by a small group of concerned animal lovers in 1980. Our goal is to establish a dog and cat adoption center that does not utilize euthanasia. In addition to wanting to provide a no-kill alternative, years ago, PAWS' founders realized the importance of providing spay/neuter and medical treatment for all animals in their care.
